Imagine being 9 years old and having 1,000 Barbie dolls! A little girls dream to decorate your room, show off to your friends and have endless play dates!!!!
Well this Norfolk, Virginia native, Gianni Graham is no ordinary 9 year old. She has already collected HUNDREDS of the popular Mattel toy in hopes of reaching 1,000 to give to children in foster care and homeless shelters!
Local TV station WTKR caught up with Gianni who said, “I feel like girls in shelters should have the same as girls not in shelters.”
Gianni’s mom, Whitney Graham, did an interview with The Huffington Post and says her daughter was playing with her own Barbie’s on Christmas day and had the idea to give them away to make another child’s holiday brighter!
She decided to start with her own two dolls, she was given for Christmas! Miss Graham explains, “Gianni said to me that the Barbie can be a friend to the young girls when they feel that they have no one to talk to.”
This story touched my heart! No matter your age, you can make a difference in someone’s life!
