Wendi also COLORS hair! She corrected my BRASSY locks to a BEAUTIFUL ASHY bayage!
LOVE IT and still loving my extensions, too!
I’ve never had “good hair”.
You know what I mean and who has it!
The girl with the hair that always looks thick, shiny, long and luscious.
Mine always looked thin, dull and limp.
After years and YEARS of wanting extensions, but never going down that path because of the horror stories I’d been told, I finally found someone who came highly recommend and took the time to answer all my questions.
And believe me – I had a lot!
I promised a review, with your questions included, so here it is!
1. How long does it take?
That depends on how much hair you have and how much more you want! Some may only take an hour while a person with thicker hair, or someone who needs more hair added, could take two. I sat down, Wendi color matched, (dyed), the extensions to look like my own and she was done in one hour and forty minutes. I was delighted because I was expecting a lot longer!
2. What kind of hair is used?
My stylist uses “micro link” extensions consisting of virgin hair. This is very healthy, strong, never been processed hair. It’s gorgeous! Personalized “custom” clip ins are also available!
3. Does it hurt?
I will tell you, it doesn’t “hurt” but it takes getting used to. Initially, the extensions are tight and close to your head. In three days, I’ve already noticed a significant change and they’re a lot more comfortable. You may have to wait up to a week to style a ponytail or an up do, but I was able to put my “house bun” up the very next day. I also never had a problem sleeping, (I’m a side sleeper), but if you sleep on your back, you will have to make adjustments.
4. Will extensions damage my hair?
NO, unless you don’t maintain them OR the person who did the work, doesn’t know how to put them in properly! As long as you go in every 6 to 8 weeks to tighten the links, you will have no problem. If you fail to do this, you can lose hair.
5. Can I brush my hair down to my scalp and wash normally?
YES and YES! You will need to purchase a special brush, you can find at any beauty supply store, and you should brush close to the scalp twice a day, morning and night, to avoid tangling. Your usual shampoo and conditioner, (I use Wen), are sufficient plus a heat protector if you use styling tools. Remember the extensions are REAL virgin hair so it gets damaged, just like your own, if not cared for properly!
6. How much does it cost?
Price starts at $220, (mine was $290), and can go as high as $680. What you pay all depends on how much hair you have and how much you want! Wendi does FREE consultations, so you’ll know the amount before you commit! Your 6 to 8 week appointment also depends on the hair you have and ranges from $50 to $100.
No matter who you choose to put your extensions in, make sure they are reputable and know EXACTLY what they’re doing!
I LOVE my hair now and I’m glad I found someone I can trust!
Hey. It is MY hair. I paid for it.
