White supremacist groups and African-American demonstrators stood toe to toe in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday and things were heated! Five people were arrested and seven people were taken to hospital!
The decision to remove the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds had some folks HEATED and protests were not without drama!
One man, wearing a black t-shirt with a swastika on the front, was struggling in the sweltering heat and a black police officer came to his rescue.
In the photo, the officer, Leroy Smith, helps the unidentified protester up the stairs and out of the sun. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Columbia hit a high of 98 degrees Saturday.
